You Gotta Have Faith!

Working closely with religious sisters has strengthened different parts of my faith life. Two in particular stand out--my prayer life and my trust in God. I have never before been in an environment where I could comfortably stop in the middle of a conversation and say a prayer with another. I admit that the first time Sister Mary Michael did this (probably within my first week), I was a bit taken aback and a little uncomfortable. After months of these encounters with spontaneous prayer with another, I can't imagine being in a workplace environment without it. Now I just need to have the courage to spring it on someone else.
I have also gained trust in God not only through the Sisters of Christ the King here at St. Peter School but also through the teachers and staff. The positivity with all students resonates in the school. A day before Sister Michael's knee surgery, I asked her if she was nervous. Her response was something to the effect of, "Not one bit. I trust in God's path. If he leaves me dead on the operating table, so be it!" I had to laugh at her blunt answer, but it made it so clear how strong her faith is. This surgery was not disrupting the Joy of this third week in Advent. Not one bit!
Have a blessed Christmas!
