Sister Mary Michael brought the excitement of the Kerygma to St. Peter School in the form of bright red wrist bands. The meaning of the Kerygma is best explained through symbols, which I have in my title and is also on the bands. I'll let the students explain them to you...
"Kerygma means God loves, sin divides, Jesus saves, we respond."
After all understood the meaning of the bands and how central it is to our faith, they were given the task of evangelization. They could either elect to tell someone about the bracelet and offer it to them or wait to be asked for an explanation and offer the wrist band to that person. Once they gave away their original band, we asked them to tell us their stories and were given another for more opportunities to spread the meaning of the Kerygma.
After about a week, there have been 60 explanations of the Kerygma given, 60 wristbands replaced, and 60 stories of how the word of God has been evangelized.
